Thanks to Obama I haven't had the time to post.
That man has been busy. And it looks like he's going to keep those of us in HR jumping for quite a while. Right now, I'm drafting a memo to go out to all of our subsidiaries about Lilly Ledbetter and how that little piece of legislation is going to effect everything we do. Our entire P & P manual will probably need to be re-written, along with an evaluation of our compensation structure AND our review process. Entire job descriptions will be have to be re-defined, and a formal compensation policy will have to be administered. It makes me tired to think about it.
AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HEALTH CARE BENEFITS!
Just a quick piece of advice for you all: go see your doctor NOW! Any surgery or procedures you want done: do it NOW! Healthcare is going to change in a big way if the current administration gets it's way...and not all of it will be good.
So xanga for me has fallen by the wayside.
Here are a couple of thoughts:
1. I'm ready for summer. I wanted to surf this past weekend, but it was just too damn cold...even with a wetsuit. I'm too damn old to be that damn cold!
2. On another note: since being so cold over the weekend, our crazy Texas winter has now decided to warm up. The humidity is so high that my hair now has gone into "Chia Pet" mode. I don't normally expect that type of behavior from my locks until late May.
3. After suffering through several months of mind-numbing hot flashes, I gave in and started taking Damiana Herbal supplements. I'm shocked that they work. I took them on the advice of my friend Alexa, the naturopath doctor.
4. I'm also taking Horney Goat Weed.
5. Yes, you read that right. Apparently, it also helps because I've never felt this....alive.
6. And yes, I think I'm too young to actually be going thru pre-menopause, but my body has other ideas.
7. I'm doing some home improvements to my little beach shack, but the island of Galveston is still pretty much a disaster area. Everyone on the outside has forgotten. Or maybe it has just became too much to think about after the disaster of Katrina.
8. Turbo Tax ROCKS!!
9. ...and so does getting a refund!
10. Now that I'm no longer married to a wealthy man, all the tax laws are working in my favor. I'm actually thinking about becoming a Democrat! hee
11. I want to go someplace warm. I'm thinking Costa Rica (been there) or the Dominican Republic.
12. On the other hand, Vegas might be a quick fix for my wanderlust. A good way to spend that hard-earned tax refund.....
13. I turn 46 on the 25th. And I don't even really care. I can't wait to be 50. Maybe, by then, menopause will be over.

Happy Birthday in advance. My single daughter went through menopause rather early and easily. She is doing OK now, but it is quite a time in a gal's life.
I am just a sick old guy today letting his wife pamper him.
I think President Obama will reach into a lot of areas untouched before.

p.s Norma and Pam go to Hawaii in May--it is Norma's turn. I went in October.
@NVRSAD_DAY - think Norma will get a board and try surfing? I was so proud of you for doing that!
@surfchick42 - lol She is not a surfer girl, but loves those small catamarans. She and Pam like that a lot. Pam will use those tiny half/size boards, but that is all.

Don't be in too big of a hurry to hit 50, all you get is an invite to join AARP. Not much else good happens.

Horney Goat Weed ROCKS! (hee, hee), I'm with you. It was so cold Sunday I thought my feet would never thaw! Need tax help! First time home owner ya know. Too scared to even look at anything. My "tax pile" just keeps growning. I've always done my own, now I feel like I'm 10yrs old. I'm doing the menopause thing too...I think...I'm confused. We'll talk about this later:) This weather is soooo G-Town! 75 one day, 38 the next. No wonder I can't shake this cough. You comin down this weekend? I NEED SUNSHINE, SAND AND WAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please?

@originalislandgirl - grrrrllllll.....THAT comment is ALL over the place! First: Turbo Tax. EVEN monkeys can do it. But if you're still scared, I'll help you. I can e-file 5 returns on my one copy. Second, confusion IS a part of menopause, which is a good thing because I thought I was losing my friggin mind. Third: not sure I'll be on the island this weekend but I want to finish painting, so who knows? I'll call you. Or you call me.
I'm writing down the names of those supplements...when pre and or regular menopause hits me I'm pretty much screwed in the hormone department, I can't take ANYTHING because i had a hormone related blood clot at 31.
So, to know there's something natural out there I might be able to take...yee-haw!
It's still too cold to surf here too...snowed here a bit day before yesterday even! Not that I surf anyhow...lol!
@flaminredhead - Honestly, I was suprised that the supplements worked....but I haven't had a hot flash for the last 2 weeks. And I was having them all day and night before I started taking the pills. I'm a BIG believer now.
Now if I could just believe all the stuff I've read about supplements and aging....*strokes chin thoughfully*

@SwearNoAllegiance - Believe me: with all the crap the democrats are pushing on health care (hidden deep in the stimulus package) there is no way that I'll ever become a democrat. Socialized medicine is going to suck hard.
Hm....that gives me an idea for a post that no one will probably want to read, but I might just have to do it anyway.....
1) First of all, don't even mention to me about being cold. We're supposed to have rain/snow on Tuesday and rain/snow showers/wind on Wednesday.
2) My chia pet will arrive in late June.

I had forgotten that Dad of Girls had the same birthday as my ex!! Wow. Remember that surprise birthday party that we threw?
How'd they like DR? I'd really like to go to Cabarete and see the kite boarders. There is supposed to be some excellent surf just down from there with a sweet left break.
The combination of Horny Goat Weed and Damiana have really worked together well. I realized after I re-read my post that it didn't come out exactly how I planned. I started the Damiana (which knocked out most of the hot flashes) then a week later, added the HGW. That pretty much killed the rest of them and has boosted my energy. I've also added Maca Tru....and truthfully, I feel better than I have in a very long time. When you're ready, I'll give you the dosages I'm taking. I've become a BIG believer in this stuff!
@surfchick42 - I can't believe it's been 10 years since that party. A lot has happened since then!
H went to La Romana, DR for a mission trip last year. The pictures brought that she brought home of the water were beautiful. She and K are going to Santo Domingo this year.
